Butter London by Gwyneth Paltrow for Goop and the Sweetie Shop Lacquer Collection.

How about these three beauties? Gwyneth Paltrow designed them for Goop, her own online Lifestyle magazine. Each week, Goop premieres one exclusive limited edition collaboration. Whether it’s a wardrobe staple, a home accessory, or a beauty must, they believe these are the curated essentials for you, your wardrobe and your home. Gwyneth started Goop in the fall of 2008 to share all of life’s positives. From creating a delicious recipe to finding a perfect dress for spring, she began curating the best of lifestyle to help her readers save time, simplify and feel inspired. Enough about Goop and on to the pretty polishes! Let me introduce you to the ”Trifecta of bespoke lacquers”, from left to right in the top three rows of pictures: Hampstead Heath which offers a mossy, green and gold shine, great for a holiday occasion. Abso-bloody-lutley which is the ultimate deep cherry opaque red and Bread & Butter pudding which is a sheer ivory cream. The latter one doesn’t really make me want to run out and buy it but man, that green and even that deep cherry red are delicious! If it wasn’t for the price I’d buy them I think. You can pick up the Goop and Butter London nail polish set for $36 at Goop.com.

Butter London also recently unveiled its Sweetie Shop Lacquer Collection, which will be available from January 2013. The new collection includes six shades influenced by the pastels of sweets such as cotton candy milkshakes and macaroons. Sounds wonderful doesn’t it? But will it look good in the bottle and on the nail? Well let’s have a look at these colors and find out!

The shades are from left to right:
- Jasper – A nice mellow yellow.
- Kerfuffle – A lovely shade of sherbet.
- Fiver – An icy mint color.
- Fruit Machine – A sweet bubblegum pink.
- Molly Coddled – A wonderful bright violet.
- Cuppa – A perfect tea with milk color, it doesn’t get more British than that.
The Sweetie Shop Lacquer Collection will be available from Boots, Harvey Nichols and butter LONDON’s website priced at £12 each. www.butterlondon.com
Which of these collections speaks to you? Or are they both not your thing?
NEONaturals by Catrice, combining brights with nudes for a cheery winter.
The new Limited Edition “NEONaturals” by Catrice invites you to use bright colors to cheer up the winter months!
This collection brings the trend colors of international designers to your nails: six neons and six nudes for endless combinations and looks.
You can use these individually or as a color duo for a beautiful halfmoon manicure which you can easily make with the new nailart brush that will include 30 tip guide stickers!
I’m loving these brights and I will probably buy On The Bright Side Of Life at least once but probably twice so I will have a back up for it once I run out. I also like the look of Little Miss Sunshine (which incidentally is also one of my favorite movies, next to Amelie and Fightclub) and may buy that one too. The nudes I will have to see in person to be able to judge if they’ll go with my pale yet pinkish skintone. I do like the look of several of them though.
NEONaturals by Catrice will be available halfway December 2012 until halfway January 2013 in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Chanel Fashion Night Out 2012 le vernis colors.
Just a quick post introducing the three gorgeous colors Chanel will be releasing to celebrate fashion’s most exceptional evening. Fashion’s Night Out is being held on September 6th in New York City and is celebrated in other cities all over the world.
Each year Chanel creates a set of colors for this special occasion and last year they spoiled us with the lovely Les Jeans colors, and this year they are giving us three warm colors that will look stunning on the runways complimenting the fall shades.

- Délicatesse – This elegant shade of beige offers a stroke of sophistication for nails in a long-wearing, high-shine lacquer.
- Infidèle – An intense, energetic pink dresses the fingertips in brilliantly bold color for an effortlessly feminine effect.
- Provocation - A deep, rich plum offers an elegant accent for a refined, resolutely stylish nail look.

I’d totally rock the provocation lipstick as well, but since I rarely wear lipsticks I don’t think I’ll get this one. Provocation the polish though, I will totally get!
Do you buy Chanel polishes or are they a bit above your budget or just not what you are into?
Essie releases the Yogaga collection.

Now before I talk about these I need to say that I know I’m late writing about these but there were not any official pictures around. But here they finally are!
Essie, quickly becoming one of my favorite brands due to their fabulous colors and nice wide brush, has recently released a new collection called Yogaga. It’s already being spotted all over in the USA. But it’s only recently that they’ve added this collection to the site.
The collection consists of 6 brand new colors and they them like this:
- Boxer Shorts – A winning blue
- Gym Dandy – A motivated Greige Brown
- Marathin – A fit Rosy Pink
- Pilates Hottie – A Zen light lilac
- Spinning Again – A driven brick red
- Yogaga – A peachful sandy beige
I have to say, I like most of these, all but the red and the pink but that’s not because those colors suck, no those colors just suck on me. In general they are all beautiful though, and they are the kind of color you slap on when you want your nails painted but don’t feel like making a big statement. They are nice and creamy seem to cover without having to fuss with putting on multiple layers, which sounds good and zen enough to me! ;)
There was a bit of a discussion on a nail forum I’m on about Pilates Honey being a possible dupe of OPI’s Planks a lot from their pirates of the caribean collection, but after comparing them on a swatchwheel we came to the conclusion that Pilates Honey has more blue or in the correct terms; is a blurple.
I hope these come to the Netherlands so I can pick up a few!
Misa Cosmetics’ Wanderlust Collection for Fall 2012
Wanderlust - Sometimes you just have to get away. But whether you’re traveling to far-off exotic locales or simply going for a spin on the town, you need nails that personify glamour, grace and subtle sophistication. Enter the Misa Cosmetics Fall 2012 collection, Wanderlust, with six polishes that offer understated femininity and a definite departure from the ho-hum. When the desire to explore new horizons hits, make sure that nails are also prepared for a fantastic voyage.
For fall Misa has picked 6 lovely colors that contrast beautifully with the neons that were the rage this summer. They look slightly dusty, murky even and it is such a breath of fresh air after all these loud colors. I love them!
Here’s a short description of each color and of course, bottle shots!
- Epiphany: A soft buttercup yellow
- Taking Chances: A color combination of luscious peach and honeydew.
- Live Without Knowing: A dusky-rose greige.
- Frozen in Time: An iridescent periwinkle.
- Lost to the World: A lovely tawny mauve.
- Breakaway: A bold plum.
I really really like this collection and may just have to grab one of each of these!
What do you think about this little collection of six, is there a color that speaks to you?
Catrice presents the “Upper WILDside” Limited Edition.
It’s time for exciting contrasts! Catrice takes you to the unspoiled world of prairies with the urban flair of the modern age city. A chic lifestyle is connected to the longing for freedom and a search filled with adventure. This contrast is reflected in the colors of the Upper WILDside LE: Warm natural hues like brown, beige, warm red and orange are up against gutsy blue and green. Indian look vs. urban style: wild but chic!
The colors are from left to right:
- Red rocks!
- Hunting Heritage
- Wild West-side
- Urban Outrider
- Be Aztec
Of course there are other products in this collection but you know me, I’ll focus on the Upper WILDside by CATRICE – Ultimate Nail Lacquer
The exciting Upper WILDside colors – warm Orange, brown and red meet cool urban blue and green. They will dry to a matte finish with a surface that feels like suede. (*Edited to add that it seems that only the red and orange will be suedes. The press information wasn’t really clear on that sadly.)
As you can see, these polishes have a shimmer in them that will look amazing when worn as is, without topcoat. But when you put either a glossy or a matte topcoat on these polishes they’ll look even more amazing. And that’s why I’ll try to get my hands on all of these colors as soon as they are out come the end of September. They’ll only be in the shelves until the end of October so if you want these you should hurry!
What’s your favorite color of this set? I personally like them all this time!
YSL Fall 2012 – La Laque Couture
This beautiful new Autumn look expresses a desire to get back to basics, a desire for a luminous matteness that is both natural and sophisticated, with effects that can be tailored to a personalized look. Khaki, black, gold, red, the classics of the contemporary Rive Gauche woman who has a daring approach to color and a free spirit combined with true Parisian chic.
Yves Saint Laurent introduces the new line of La Laque Couture. Its vibrant collection make every woman couture to the fingertips. New formula offers extreme shine and care for nails.

- Nº 31 Khaki Arty
- Nº 32 Rouge Expressionniste
There are only two colors in this collection and if I’m honest they’re not different from any other polishes I’ve seen before so I don’t think I’ll be buying these.
But who knows they may be stunning in person and these product mock ups don’t do them any justice.
What do you think of these?
Essie Fall 2012 Stylenomics collection.
I just ran into this while reading one of my nail magazines and I couldn’t wait to share!

These will by out August 1st 2012 in the United States.
You can buy these individually but there is also a 4 pack of mini’s coming out containing the following colors:
- Skirting the Issue
- Stylenomics
- Don’t Sweater it
- Head Mistress.
I personally like all but Head Mistress so I might just get this. (Unless I just buy the full sized bottles of Skirting the Issue and Stylenomics…)
Do you have any Essies and what is your favorite color?

I’m curious, will you be experimenting with these or would you rather just buy a ready made polish?
Coming soon: Catrice Cucuba!
The range of nail colors in this collection is influenced by the colors of Cuba: warm shades such as bright yellow and two different browns are complemented by coral and mint green. These colors underline your summer style and are an ideal match for the other products in this Limited Edition. The new extrabroad brush guarantees an even more professional color application across your entire nail with just one stroke of the brush.
- Sunny Side - A lovely shimmery yellow
- Reggeaton - A beautiful shimmery brown
- Salsa Cubana - A soft peachy polish
- Havana Drum - A light nude-ish brown
- Take it Mint - A wonderful innocent mint
I do think I’ll be picking up the lovely mint color, and I will have to see the yellow and brown in real life as it looks like the yellow has micro flakies and the brown has some holographic pigment in there on the product pictures. But other than that I think I’ll let this collection pass. Unless of course they impress me the moment I see them for myself in the shop when they are released halfway this August.
How about you, what do you think of this set?
Essence Fruity

The next Essence collection was just revealed here in the Netherlands via a press release and they have picked a very cute theme this time that fits Spring that at the makes you long for summer: Fruity!
This collection does not only have 5 lovely polishes but also some other nice nail related goodies, keep reading and I will introduce you to all of it.
First up though, I have five cute and fruity nail polishes to show you, namely:
- 01 Banana Joe,
- 02 Peach Beauty,
- 03 Very Cherry,
- 04 One Kiwi A Day…
- 05 Mashed Berries.

As you can see in the close up pictures on the right (click it to enlarge) there are 2 creams and three glittery polishes in this mini collection. And I have to say, I do like the little touch of using different types of glitters for the polishes. The Kiwi green one has a different glitter shape than the Cherry and Berries ones, which is a nice little detail I think.

That’s not all in the nail department by the way as they are also releasing a cute little set of fimo cane slices that looks like sliced fruit called “Nail Fruits” that comes with its own nail glue. Because the slices are of course a bit thicker than say a striper line or some dots you make with a naildotter they have added a Nail Art sealing topcoat called “Stay Fruity” to the collection.
Now we come to something I am quite excited about: With this collection they’re also releasing a scented topcoat called ”Smells like strawberry…“ that… you guessed it; smells like fresh strawberries! I am so going to have to chase this one down because I am very much into fruity scents and how fun will it be to have a yummy scent coming from your nails all day?
The Essence Fruity collection will be exclusively for sale at Kruidvat & Trekpleister from halfway April until May 2012 here in the Netherlands.
So, what are your thoughts on this collection? I myself will probably only grab the topcoat but I do think that if I like it that I will grab several.
China Glaze – Colours from the Capital.
Lionsgate and China Glaze have finally released the official color palette and names from their Hunger Games nail polish collection. “Colours from the Capitol” is inspired solely by Panem’s lavish, beauty-obsessed Capitol. I have not read the books (yet) so it was interesting to read how obsessed with everything the Capitol is in one of the quotes in the press release: “Awash in lavish fashion, food, and entertainment, Capitol citizens enjoy extreme cosmetics and body modifications, bold wigs, and outlandish costumes.”
You’ll see in the photo above that they’ve used the same twelve colors from the original leak and renamed them—and to be honest, I’m quite happy about that because they’ve picked some gorgeous colors for this collection. And look, there even is a flakie it seems!
What’s also cool is that while the colors might be linked to the Capitol, they’re also very clearly influenced by the twelve districts of Panem. Here’s the breakdown:
- Luxe and Lush – District 1 (Luxury)
- Stone Cold – District 2 (Masonry)
- Riveting – District 3 (Technology)
- Hook and Line – District 4 (Fishing)
- Electrify – District 5 (Power)
- Fast Track – District 6 (Transportation)
- Mahogany Magic – District 7 (Lumber)
- Dress Me Up – District 8 (Textiles)
- Harvest Moon – District 9 (Grain)
- Foie Gras – District 10 (Livestock)
- Agro – District 11 (Agriculture)
- Smoke and Ashes – District 12 (Mining)
I’ve got to say I love all the shimmers and creams, I’m not a bit fan of glitter polish but I do like that flakie and would love to see how it layers over the other colors. What do you think of this collection?
Amazing news from OPI!
O.P.I. is releasing an amazing collection I will certainly try to get every bottle of because… IT HAS A DUTCH THEME!
If you didn’t know this yet, I’m Dutch, so you know… this is kind of a big deal to me! Okay, enough small talk, I’m sure you’re curious about the colors and their names, so let’s just go to the first pictures that have been released:
- Gouda Gouda Two Shoes,
- Wooden Shoes Like to Know It,
- I Don’t Give a Rotterdam,
- A Roll In The Hague,
- Petal Faster Suzi,
- Dutch Ya Just Love OPI,
- Thanks a WindMillion,
- Red Lights Ahead…Where?,
- Kiss Me On My Tulips,
- Vampsterdam,
- I Have a Herring Problem,
- Did You Hear About Van Gogh?
The names are cracking me up already and I’ve got to say I do like the colors very much.
Now on to the swatches:
I’m in LOVE with “Dutchya just love OPI”, “Vampsterdam” and “I have a herring problem”. But the rest of the colors are quite lovely as well.
This collection will be coming February 2012 and I will of course be getting them all. I just can’t let this one pass me by!
How about you all? Will you be getting some of these? Or is this just not your thing?
Dior Blue Tie Beauty Collection Nail Polishes Fall 2011
The famous fashion house of Dior is soon releasing their latest beauty collection to celebrate the upcoming fall season. The Dior Blue Tie collection is the creation of Dior’s new makeup ambassador, Andrew Gallimore.
As Dior is known for a great collection of nail polishes I shall, of course, use this post to focus on the lovely shades of polish that will be arriving with this collection any day now.
There will be three shades of nail polish released with this collection, the first one is called Beige Safari which is a pretty pale pink nude. Suitable for not just that nice sharp business suit you have for important meetings but also for a softer look. You know what I mean, that nice and warm early fall evening while you wear your summer dress. It also acts as a nice base for the other two colors in the collection as it will ensure you don’t have a blue hue to your nails after removing the blue polish.
Up next is Tuxedo which is a rich, dark, mysterious sapphire. It’s almost a black-blue with a lovely shimmer to it. And it’s my favorite of the three. It’s not a color we haven’t seen before with other brands, but if you insist on wearing a new Dior nail polish – this is one of the must have colors of the fall.
And last, but certainly not least, is a nice cream blue called Blue Denim. There’s not very much I can say about this color because really, it’s just a blue cream with nothing else to it, no slight shimmer, interesting finish or anything, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that it, of course, is a nice nearly navy blue.
I’ve heard from the people that had the chance to swatch the polishes already that the formula was quite thick, yet not streaky or hard to work with. You get good coverage with just one coat, but like most people I prefer two, just to be on the safe side.
All in all a nice small collection but I personally don’t see anything I haven’t seen before and shall be saving the $21 these bottles retail at for some other colors I do not have in my collection yet.
How about you? Are you a Dior Addict and are you already pining away for one or all of these colors? Or are you skipping this collection just like I am?
MAC me over collection September 2011
Last year, in November, a special competition was launched at www.macmeover.com, to find a real-person face for MAC’s fall 2011 color collection.
To enter, one had to submit a photo or video of themselves using the phrase, “MAC me over because…” and completing it with “style, heart, and soul.” Entries went through a judging process led by James Gager. Eventually six winners were flown to NYC to be photographed for the campaign. The final image was showcased globally.
These are the lucky few, and their make overs are quite fabulous don’t you think?
Now on to the Nail Lacquers!
There are four colors in this collection. And if you look closely at the models, the lady in the white shirt is wearing the Quiet Time polish, which is a lovely nude. All four colors are shown below.
- Deep Sea Deep teal (Cream) (Limited Edition)
- Purple Majesty Deep purple (Cream) (Limited Edition)
- Fatigues Army green (Cream) (Limited Edition)
- Quiet Time Beige nude (Cream) (Limited Edition)
This Mac Me Over collection will be launched this this September. Do you have your heart set on one of the colors?
Rimmel London – Aqua Cool & Hot List
I went on a little shopping trip today, and I did not get anything major, but I do have to share with you the polish I got my hands on. There’s a new player in town you see, and it’s called Lycra! We’ve of course already worn it as a fabric for years and now it has found its way to our nailpolish in the Rimmel London Lycra Pro Professional Finish collection. And it does exactly what it says on the bottle: “Long lasting, chip resistant and anti-fade color system.” This excites me because I’ve tried it, and it is really true!
The text on the bottles boasts about lasting up to ten days. I honestly can’t say anything about that because I get bored with my polish quite quickly. The longest I’ve worn “Hot List” was five days, without any chipping (Of course with proper base and topcoat use where you also paint the free edges of your nails.) so I guess they do hold up for a long time. If you run your finger over the dried polish, it even feels different, I can’t even describe it. Less plastic-like like the other polishes on the market, more meshed with your fingernail. And this is going to sound weird it almost feels like it’s a bit greasy, which it of course is not. I know what you must be thinking (she’s lost her mind!), but you should feel it for yourself, I’m sure you’d agree.
The sticker on the cap mentions the MAXI brush, which is a flat wide brush instead of the normal round one that you’re probably used to. If you have narrow fingernails it still should work nicely for you, though I think you might have to use it sideways to paint your pinkie, but really it shouldn’t be too much of a problem for anyone to use. I personally think it’s a nice brush and it helps you put on the polish in a smooth manner and in less strokes than usual.
Now let’s move on to the two colors I own…
The “Hot List” one on the right in the picture I should name first as I purchased it a little while ago during a polish sale at one of our drugstores. I think I got it for about €5 (which is currently about $7) and I just couldn’t resist it, the color is an exact dupe of Chanel’s “Paradoxal” so hey for €5 that is a pretty great buy don’t you think? It is a beautiful dusty mauve with purple shimmer and it covers the nail in two coats. I’ve been told that “Paradoxal” already does this in one coat but it’s to be expected for a €20 (over $28!) polish I feel. And honestly wouldn’t you rather use two coats of the cheaper polish to get coverage?
The other color, the beautiful soft blue on the left of the picture called “Aqua Cool” is the polish that came home with me this morning. This time I paid the full price for it, €7! Which of course for a quality nail polish still isn’t a lot of money. This color is lovely but I do have to say that it took me about 3 coats before I had a nice even coverage so be aware of that. Other than that I have no complaints really, it’s a beautiful baby blue, something you might have seen a lot of Youtube make-up & nail guru’s wear already this spring. It’s not as pale and bright as most of them I must warn you, but it is still very lovely and worth the buy.
I will of course soon do a little wearing test where I shall attempt to show you one of these polishes before and after ten days of wear, so keep your eye on this space or follow me on bloglovin to get notified of a new post.
