Butter London by Gwyneth Paltrow for Goop and the Sweetie Shop Lacquer Collection.

How about these three beauties? Gwyneth Paltrow designed them for Goop, her own online Lifestyle magazine. Each week, Goop premieres one exclusive limited edition collaboration. Whether it’s a wardrobe staple, a home accessory, or a beauty must, they believe these are the curated essentials for you, your wardrobe and your home. Gwyneth started Goop in the fall of 2008 to share all of life’s positives. From creating a delicious recipe to finding a perfect dress for spring, she began curating the best of lifestyle to help her readers save time, simplify and feel inspired. Enough about Goop and on to the pretty polishes! Let me introduce you to the ”Trifecta of bespoke lacquers”, from left to right in the top three rows of pictures: Hampstead Heath which offers a mossy, green and gold shine, great for a holiday occasion. Abso-bloody-lutley which is the ultimate deep cherry opaque red and Bread & Butter pudding which is a sheer ivory cream. The latter one doesn’t really make me want to run out and buy it but man, that green and even that deep cherry red are delicious! If it wasn’t for the price I’d buy them I think. You can pick up the Goop and Butter London nail polish set for $36 at Goop.com.

Butter London also recently unveiled its Sweetie Shop Lacquer Collection, which will be available from January 2013. The new collection includes six shades influenced by the pastels of sweets such as cotton candy milkshakes and macaroons. Sounds wonderful doesn’t it? But will it look good in the bottle and on the nail? Well let’s have a look at these colors and find out!

The shades are from left to right:
- Jasper – A nice mellow yellow.
- Kerfuffle – A lovely shade of sherbet.
- Fiver – An icy mint color.
- Fruit Machine – A sweet bubblegum pink.
- Molly Coddled – A wonderful bright violet.
- Cuppa – A perfect tea with milk color, it doesn’t get more British than that.
The Sweetie Shop Lacquer Collection will be available from Boots, Harvey Nichols and butter LONDON’s website priced at £12 each. www.butterlondon.com
Which of these collections speaks to you? Or are they both not your thing?
Orly is getting fired up for fall 2012!
The weather here has been slowly changing, the days have been getting shorter, fall will be here again soon and so will the new fall polish collections.
Orly is coming out with a set of 6 beautiful warm tinted high gloss polishes to set the tone for this fall:

- Rapture as you can see is a lovely brown with a hint of purple it looks like.
- Smolder is a yummy burgundy shimmer, burgundy is one of THE colors to wear this fall by the way!
- Ignite is a delicious cherry red créme.
- Flicker is a red shimmer with hits of copper, giving your nails the look of a glowing ember.
- Flare has a beautiful golden shimmer to it.
- And last but not least, Glow. Which is a color that seems the odd one out in this set but as you can see in the publicity picture where the model is wearing a top in this color and has Flicker over Smolder on her nails, it really matches well with the warmth of the other colors.
Looking at these samples on the left I have to say that I may need one or two of these, I have not decided yet.
To me the bottle shots look less appealing to me though for some reason, don’t you hate it when that happens? Though of course it will make my wallet quite happy if I decide to skip this for that reason.
This collection is an Limited Edition and is set to be released September 2012.

What do you think of these colors? Is there a must have color for you in this collection or will you skip this one?
Orly Dark Shadows mini collection 2012
Another Johnny Depp & Tim Burton collaboration coming out soon you say? And he’s playing a vampire? AND there will be a nail polish collection by Orly based on this movie?! YES PLEASE!
What am I talking about you may ask? If you are a Johnny Depp fan I’m sure you’ve heard of the new movie he’s starring in called Dark Shadows.
And if not let me present you with the movie poster and the 4 new Orly nail polishes:
I’ve got to say, I do like all of them, apart from the pink. I just can not rock a light color like that. But I know that some of you have quite the weakness for a soft pink like that so I’m sure they will all sell well. And Mysterious Curse looks like Galaxy Girl to me by the way so I wonder how they compare!
The collection will be available this May.
Are you looking forward to this collection, or is it maybe the movie you are looking forward to the most?
Another amazing upcoming trend in nailart – Velvet!
Earlier today I was just happily browsing through my Youtube subscriptions, looking at nailart videos of course and oh man, I found something awesome. It’s a nail art video by the incredibly talented Ukrainian-based nail tech Liliya Sereditskaya, and she is using something I had not seen before on the nail, a strange type of powder. Liliya herself calls it Cashmere, have a look and see what you think by clicking on this link, as she sadly has requested that it can not be embedded on any site but Youtube, so I will link you to it instead.

After some Googling I found a picture of an amazing set of faux nails with a velvet half moon manicure in two colors. Now I don’t know about you, but I am just LOVING this look! It’s soft and sensual. Plus it must feel pretty cool on your nails. However, I’m not sure if it would do well with moisture and how you’d use a hand cream. And even more importantly; will it still stick when you wash your hands or take a bath or shower?
Now, if you want to give this look a go yourself and you happen to be in the Netherlands I’m pretty sure you could duplicate it with these velvet powders I’ve found at the Nagelgroothandel online shop. I may have to order these someday soon and give them a go! I haven’t looked if these are in other stores outside the Netherlands but I do know that Marta Stewart has released flocking powder in assorted colors that I bet you can use for a project like this as well.
Have you ever seen or tried anything like these before? Let me know!

China Glaze Halloween 2012 collection preview!
Wow, it’s only just February and there have already popped up a few pictures of the Halloween 2012 collection that China Glaze will be bringing out!
I of course can’t help but share these little gems with you. No word on when exactly they will be up for sale and I haven’t found any swatches of it yet, but as soon as I know more you’ll of course hear it here first.
There are 6 colors in this collection, from the vibrant almost neon Roguish Red, to the murky yet shimmery Cast a spell I have a feeling this collection will not disappoint.
I’m not really into glitter so if they will bring out separate packs I will probably not buy the one that has Glitter Goblin, but who knows it might be one that steals my heart the most when I see it swatched or at least in person.
Being a big fan of blue toned purple I will probably try to hunt Bizarre Blurple down though. Plus that I have to admit that Immortal is intriguing me as well, will it have glitter or possibly holographic shimmers or flakies? Will it possibly be a dupe for Illamasqua’s Raindrops? As for Make a Spectacle… I have a feeling we’ve all seen this one before, who doesn’t remember Snow Globe from last years Let it Snow collection? I’m all for recycling, but not in the polish world. There are still so many colors and finishes out there, please come up with something new instead of bringing back the same thing under a different name please.
I admit I am not wowed by this one yet, but who knows, maybe after seeing a few swatches and bigger pictures I might feel differently. Product pictures like this usually don’t do much for me anyway, so I’m not surprised by feeling this way about this collection right now.
Time to Christmas it up in here!
This is my current festive manicure, what do you ladies (and possible gentlemen) think of it?
It’s a layer of Sally Hansen’s Triple Strong as a base. Over that I have OPI’s An Affair in Red Square with a little layer of Beyu’s 209 over it for some extra depth. I’ve stamped an all over image with white Konad stamping polish on top of it for some holiday cheer. It’s an image from the BIG SdP K plate. One of the many Dashica Beauty Shop plates that I have. Over that I’ve dabbed some foil glue in the spots where I wanted my rhinestones to be and after putting those on I’ve used Seche Vite topcoat to seal it all. If you have not tried Seche Vite I seriously urge you to try it. It is the best topcoat I’ve tried. It dries gorgeously shiny and fast. And it keeps my manicure going for at least a week if applied correctly.
What do you think? I rarely wear red on my nails so it takes some getting used to for me and I might just switch when it’s Christmas, to something else and more sophisticated like Chanel Graphite. But for now it’s certainly helping me get in the holiday spirit!
Are you wearing any special holiday manicures this year?
