Orly Hope and Freedom

I must say, while I’m not into glitter usually, the look of Peaceful Opposition does intrigue me.  I also like the look of High on Hope but other than that I may skip the rest of this collection.

Much love!No idea when these will come out but I’ll let you know as soon as I hear something!

Orly is getting fired up for fall 2012!

The weather here has been slowly changing, the days have been getting shorter, fall will be here again soon and so will the new fall polish collections.

Orly is coming out with a set of 6 beautiful warm tinted high gloss polishes to set the tone for this fall:

  • Rapture as you can see is a lovely brown with a hint of purple it looks like.
  • Smolder is a yummy burgundy shimmer, burgundy is one of THE colors to wear this fall by the way!
  • Ignite is a delicious cherry red créme.
  • Flicker is a red shimmer with hits of copper, giving your nails the look of a glowing ember.
  • Flare has a beautiful golden shimmer to it.
  • And last but not least, Glow. Which is  a color that seems the odd one out in this set but as you can see in the publicity picture where the model is wearing a top in this color and has Flicker over Smolder on her nails, it really matches well with the warmth of the other colors.

Looking at these samples on the left I have to say that I may need one or two of these, I have not decided yet.

To me the bottle shots look less appealing to me though for some reason, don’t you hate it when that happens? Though of course it will make my wallet quite happy if I decide to skip this for that reason.

This collection is an Limited Edition and is set to be released September 2012.

What do you think of these colors? Is there a must have color for you in this collection or will you skip this one?

Help Orly support the Breast Cancer Awareness movement.

Featuring 3 Flash Glam FX shades, Pretty In Pink supports the Cancer Schmancer Movement. Each lacquer comes with a free Breast Cancer Ribbon charm so you can show your support. http://www.cancerschmancer.org/

I love the pink ribbon charm but I’m not crazy about glitter, so I  wish they would have included a cream as well. But I shouldn’t complain really as I do think it’s a fabulous cause to support and I wish all big and little brands alike would do something like this.

Do you have any pink ribbons to show your support in the battle against breast cancer? If not, this may be your chance!

Alright, I’ve given in! Here’s my Easter manicure!

I didn’t think I would do it, honestly I don’t care much about Easter nail art. All the Easter eggs, bunnies and crosses in pastel shades usually do not do it for me but when my mom asked me if I wasn’t going to do any Easter themed nails I took it as a bit of a challenge to find something I like that does have a bit of an Easter feel to it.

So I came up with these:

Excuse the dry cuticles, I’m working on those, believe me! I know what’s causing them too, you see, I’m just too stubborn or actually too impatient to stop using Acetone free remover, so every time I take off my polish I dry out my cuticles a tad more and I have to use my OPI Avoplex things again to get them a bit more presentable again… A never ending cycle really. You know how it goes I’m sure…

Anyway what I used for this mani is the following:

Orly Nailtrition – The basecoat

China Glaze‘s For Audrey – The base color

Konad‘s Wine Red stamping polish for the dots as I couldn’t find my brown.

A Sponge Bob Stamping plate for the dots (Click here to go to the Ebay page to buy it):

And of course a royal coat of Seche Vite to protect it all and after that I was done. That’s all there is to it really and it makes for a cute, really wearable Easter manicure.

Did you do an Easter manicure as well this year? If so, what did you do?

Orly Dark Shadows mini collection 2012

Another Johnny Depp & Tim Burton collaboration coming out soon you say? And he’s playing a vampire? AND there will be a nail polish collection by Orly based on this movie?! YES PLEASE!

What am I talking about you may ask? If you are a Johnny Depp fan I’m sure you’ve heard of the new movie he’s starring in called Dark Shadows.

And if not let me present you with the movie poster and the 4 new Orly nail polishes:

I’ve got to say, I do like all of them, apart from the pink. I just can not rock a light color like that. But I know that some of you have quite the weakness for a soft pink like that so I’m sure they will all sell well. And Mysterious Curse looks like Galaxy Girl to me by the way so I wonder how they compare!

The collection will be available this May.

Are you looking forward to this collection, or is it maybe the movie you are looking forward to the most?

Orly Feel the Vibe Summer 2012 Collection

All the big brands seem to know it and are showing it in their new collections, brights are part of the hottest looks for this summer!

Orly isn’t one to stay behind and always stays on trend with their collections. So this Feel the Vibe Summer 2012 collection is filled with gorgeous neons and colors that match them and if used in a manicure along with the neons will make them pop even more.

Here’s a quick introduction to the colors and their names:

  • Beach Cruiser – A neon fuchsia
  • Skinny Dip – Electric light blue
  • Dayglow – White with a pearly finish
  • After Party – A navy blue with iridescent blue shimmer
  • Melt Your Popsicle – A neon orange
  • Glowstick – A neon yellow

How are you feeling about all these brights coming out for the summer? Do you follow trends or do you wear whatever you feel like?

Nail of the day – Silver Lining

Every cloud has its silver lining. There have been plenty of rainclouds here in the Netherlands lately so I thought I’d add my own little silver lining here with this stamped nail art.

Due to the current weather conditions here I’m already in an autumn kind of mood so this is also a little preview of this falls fashion colors. I hope you like it as much as I do!

I used the following to achieve this look:

  • Bourjois So Laque Ultra Shine in Bleu Violet as a base color – a beautiful violet blue that I’m in love with each time I get to wear it.
  • China Glaze Millenium as a stamping polish. – I love the foil finish of this polish, it’s just so shiny!
  • Nail stamp and scraper, tissues and acetone.
  • Big SdP plate – I from Dashica Beauty Shop (No they don’t sponsor me, I just adore all of their plates and own many of them by now.)
  • And because the so laque polishes chip very easily I decided to go with the Nail Envy by O.P.I. nailhardener first before using Bonder by Orly as a base for the Bourjois laquer. After that I applied O.P.I. QuickDry topcoat to finish the look.

What do you think? Is it something you’d wear?

A Passionate Westside Warrior – NOTD

To recreate this look you need:

  • A good basecoat, I used Orly’s Bonder.
  • China GlazeWestside Warrior as the overall color.
  • China GlazePassion for stamping.
  • Dashica Beauty’s XL SdP 35 for the image.
  • Stamper, scraper, tissues and nailpolish remover to clean the stamper etc.
  • A nice topcoat, I used O.P.I. - RapiDry Topcoat.

What do you think of this look? Is it something you’d recreate?

Orly Holiday Soireé collection.

Cosmoprof is a business-to-business beauty trade show that I would love to be able to visit someday. At this show many brands will present their current and upcoming collections. This past  July it was, once again, held in Las Vegas, Nevada and one of my favorite nail polish brands Orly presented quite a few products this year!

One of the upcoming collections that caught my eye is the Holiday Soireé collection, which includes these six beautiful shades:

  • Androgynie - A black jelly with holographic glitter in different shapes and sizes.
  • Ma Cherie - A sexy red cream that no one should be able to refuse.
  • Oui - A purple jelly with pale gold shimmer.
  • Au Champagne - A white cream with a silver-white shimmer to it which will give it a lovely pearly shine.
  • Le Chateau - A simple creamy black.
  • Ingenue - A beautiful purple rose jelly with copper shimmer.

I recieved AndrogynieOui and Ingenue in the mail two days after my order at a completely new website for me called the nailcompany and I am just so thrilled. I’m a sucker for a beautiful sparkly looking polish and who can turn down a black with holographic glitter?

Pictured above are my nails today, Oui with a stamping of Dashica XL SdP 19 in China Glaze‘s lovely gold color called 2030. This is two layers of Oui.  It already covered nicely in one layer, but the color got more depth when I added another one.

Aren’t they fabulous? I will swatch the other two colors as soon as I get the time and let you know what I think of the polish. So far Oui is my favorite, but I’m a sucker for purple so I doubt anyone is surprised, right?

Do you have any Orly polishes, if yes, which is your favorite? And what do you think of this new collection?

Did I just really find a dupe for Chanel Peridot?!

Almost everybody loves a quality brand like Chanel with their beautiful make up, clothes and not to forget their nailpolish collections. I follow those releases even closer because every year they seem to release one of the it-colors when it comes to nailpolishes.

We’ve seen it before many years ago with their Rouge Noir, a color that had not really been seen in nail polish fashion before at that time. And in this current collection there is Paradoxal, a beautiful mauve tint with purple shimmer. This upcoming fall collection it seems that Peridot will be one of the crowd favorites as it has created quite a buzz in Fashion- & Beauty blogland already. It is a beautiful golden green that even seems to have some copper and bronze tones and teal hues here and there as you can see in the picture in the gallery below and I fell in love with it the moment I saw it online.

Since it has yet to be released here in the Netherlands I am still waiting to see it with my own eyes and I honestly can’t wait. Even more so, because a few days ago when I went on a little shopping spree in Utrecht I ran into a gorgeous dupe of this shade! I suspect it has a hint of a copper tone to it sometimes, but it is barely noticable.

Now are you ready – and are you writing this down, because you might regret it if you don’t!

The nailpolish I found is called ‘Diving in Malaysia’ and it’s by Sephora. It only costs one third of the price of Peridot (!!!) and I now have it in my ever growing nailpolish collection. The price seems cheap but not if you compare the size and amount of product, but more on that later when I break it down in the ratings.

It is an absolute jewel on your nails.  In direct sunlight the golden shimmer really comes through. Even in the evening in artificial light it’s still quite a joy to behold as it takes on a more toned down bronze shade. This polish is such a beautiful chameleon.

The staying power so far is good. I’ve had it on my nails for two full days now and as you can see there hasn’t been a single chip yet.

I’ve used Orly Bonder basecoat and O.P.I. Start to finish topcoat to of course protect it from early tipwear. I have often read that Chanel polishes aren’t the best when it comes to staying power so I do think this polish by Sephora has another point over the Chanel one.

All in all I give this polish the following rating:

– For staying power so far, I can’t say much of it yet of course but so far, so good!

 - For color, it’s just a near perfect dupe, so a near perfect score for that.

 - For coverage, one layer is enough really but I used two for a bit more depth in the color.

 - For price, a little less than 6 euro’s ($9) compared to Chanel’s 22 euro’s ($29,99 on Amazon)

 - For amount. It is only 0.16 fl. oz. (5ml) compared to Chanel’s whopping  .4 fl. oz. (13ml)

So it kind of balances out really.  The color and the staying power are fabulous, but the amount of product and the price kind of make me sad. It is the perfect size though if you are not sold completely on Peridot yet and want to give it a test run without having to pay almost 30 dollars for it.

When Peridot finally does go on sale here in the Netherlands I will still be checking it out to see what the coverage is and, of course, how the staying power is with that one. When I know more I’ll make an update so be sure to check back!

Now, enough talk and on to the pictures as they will hopefully convince you how amazing this color is, even when they barely do it justice.

Let me know what you think and if you’ll be checking your local Sephora for this color or if you’d rather pay for the Chanel color instead.

First glance: Orly Mineral FX polishes!

They are gorgeous, they are probably going to be just as popular as the Cosmic FX polishes… they are the Orly MineralFX polishes!

Sadly so far I’ve only found this picture and I have no news about the release date yet, but man, aren’t they just stunning?

I personally am looking forward to ‘Rococo a Gogo‘, ‘Stone Cold‘ and especially ‘Rock the World‘ as it kind of reminds me of the color ‘Bad Fairy‘ of the infamous Venomous Villains Collection by MAC, a color that I couldn’t get my hands on at the time and have been regretting ever since.

As soon as I have more news about these beauties – and I’m on the hunt for that information, you’ll hear about it here!

Dashica Beauty and Boozyshop haul.

Both packages that I mentioned in an earlier post have finally arrived and I couldn’t be happier! They both contained an extra gift and the things I have ordered came in a perfect state due to careful wrapping.

The first one to arrive this week was my Dashica Beauty Shop order, which consisted of  5 big image plates (and by big they mean big, as in -42 images on a single plate- big!) as well as a double sided white stamper + a scraper.
Shirley, the webshop owner, was also sweet enough to add a set of water decals as a small gift for ordering with them. I will have to try those out soon. It is my first set of water decals ever and I’ve been very curious about them so yay! Thank you so much Shirley & Dashica Beauty Shop!

The other package came a day later, it wouldn’t have been this late if it wasn’t for a slight mishap.
You see, the “Nails for Males” that I previously have written about was out of stock and sadly probably not returning to the shop. The lovely Maaike of Boozyshop contacted me through email and asked me if I’d like my money back or if I’d like to pick another Orly nail care product. I promptly picked “Nailtrition” which is a fabulous strengthening & growth treatment by Orly. I already own it, but it’s already almost a quarter empty and she told me I’d get the package the next day. And there it was, this morning, with an extra bottle of Diamond Cosmetics nail polish in the shade ‘Desert Rose’ for all the trouble, isn’t that sweet? So thank you as well Boozyshop, you didn’t have to make up for it, but you certainly made my day by doing that!

I am already playing around with the image plates and will probably try out my beautyblender for the first time tomorrow morning.  I will, of course, keep you all posted about my experiences with every product mentioned.

Have you bought from this shops before? If yes, what is the last thing you got? If no, what would you like to buy there if you did?
