Summer

First look: Euro Centrale collection by OPI

Oh boy do I have a nice little scoop for you, look what OPI just revealed on their facebook page, Euro Centrale, their Spring/Summer 2013 Collection.

I love them! The names are just classic OPI funny and the colors are quite pretty! I hope they will give out a release date for these soon so I can start saving up for a few of these.

Color Club Halo Hues collection sneek peek!

Finally, the polish world has listened to our prayers, we’re getting more holographic polishes! And soon too!

Color Club is releasing the Halo Hues collection this month, which means they’re beating China Glaze to the punch which are set to release a set in the spring of 2013. Very smart thinking you guys! The polish world obviously needs a little bit of competition. That way more companies should catch on and before you know it every brand will have some holographics, just like that whole (in my opinion) horrible crackle fad caught on last time.

There will be six polishes in this collection and dear god I want them all!

From left to right:

  • Harp On It
  • Cloud Nine
  • Halo-Graphic
  • Blue Heaven
  • Cherubic
  • Angel Kiss

I seriously am anxious for these to come out, even more so than the upcoming extensive OPI James Bond collection I think! I LOVE me some holo and I don’t think you could ever have enough holographic polishes as a nail polish lover.

Do you have any holographics?

Summer challenge – Sea Shells

Recently I’ve joined a group on facebook that has a fabulous summer challenge where they have a list of manicures you do on a certain day if you choose to join in on the fun. And yesterday the theme was Sea Shells.

Due to my internet being down most of the day yesterday and this morning I wasn’t able to post this in time but here it is today!

People came up with the most amazing ideas, some used actual crushed seashells on their nails, others painted them on with acrylic paint. I love seeing this kind of creativity! My favorite set were the ones done by a good friend of mine, Laurie of Dressed up Digits who recreated the look of Abalone on her nails using a glitter gradient and stamping. You can see her nails here.

For this manicure I decided to stamp. I of course started with my Duri Rejuvacote to which I owe these long nails (for me this is long, I’ve never had them this length before) I first painted my nails using China Glaze’s Lavender Lingo (which isn’t a Lavender at all but a very soft baby pink) and topcoated them with Seche Vite. I always do this before I stamp because it will help you fix any stamping mistakes a lot easier as carefully wiping off your stamp with acetone will not ruin the basecolor right away but will give you a second chance to stamp. I picked pink because it reminds me of the pink inside some shells have and because it looks really classy with gold I think.

When that was dry I used my Fab Ur Nails Gold stamping polish and Dashica Beauty Shops Big SdP-L stamping plate which has these beautiful shells on there for the image over it.

Over that I put another layer of topcoat and here we are, a sea shells inspired manicure :)

Are you in any challenge groups for nails or make up?

Mani update – Neon-ized it!

Do you ever have this problem of enjoying the time consuming nailart you’ve done but just are not feeling the colors anymore?

That’s the problem I had with my Monochromatic Manicure. I just needed some color after rocking the black and white for a few days. So what I decided to do is give in to the current neon and gradient craze and sponge some of my neons over this to make it look more summery. Because neons are usually quite sheer it would show the pattern still so I wouldn’t feel like I had wasted my time drawing all kinds of stuff on my nails when I’d only wear the manicure for a few days.

This is what they ended up looking like:

And this is what I used to achieve the effect. Please ignore the condition of my neon yellow, I know it looks miserable but it was in a bag along with a few polishes that broke when I flew back from vacation last year and I haven’t taken the time to clean that one up just yet…

Pictured are:

  • China Glaze – Purple Panic
  • Essence nail art twins – Gabriella
  • Kiko – 336
  • China Glaze – In the limelight
  • China Glaze – Celtic Sun
  • A cut up make up sponge

Have you tried gradient nails yet? If so, what colors did you use?

These are pretty but not my colors, how do you feel about these?

OPI Outrageous Neons Mini Collection.

Another fabulous neons collection about to be launched is the OPI Outrageous Mini Collection.

OPI has made a video to tell you all about this little bright collection right here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZvmbkRS9tk

And if you haven’t got a lot of time or a bad connection and can’t watch video yet are curious about the colors in this collection, here’s a pic and the names of all the colors:

  • Ridiculously Yellow
  • Formidably Orange
  • Riotously Pink
  • Seriously Purple

Besides these colors the set also consists of a special white basecoat and the opi topcoat. All bottles contain 3.75ml which is 1/8 fl oz.

If you have not seen a Mini polish compared to a full OPI bottle  I’ve quickly taken a picture for you of a full sized bottle and a mini I got with one of the Halloween sets many years ago.

Now I have to admit, I love these, but I wish they’d just release full sizes of these so I could just get myself the purple. The other colors are fun, but I already have similar colors and I usually am not too crazy about mini polishes as with longer nails you only get 3 to 4 wears out of each color if you use them sparingly.

What do you think of this nifty little set? Will you be getting these or are you going to skip this?

Nails of the day follow up!

I’ve decided to add some stamping to the previous nails using Dashica XL SdP image plate 8.

I am really enjoying this a lot right now. I hope you like it too!

Nail of the day: Mint to teal gradient

Just a very quick drive by posting of my nail of the day which is a gradient I did using China Glaze – For Audrey as a base color and along with that  I used Sinful Colors – Why Not, Mattésse Elite – Vig(Thank you again Marissa for sending me that set! They’re stunning!) and Nicole By O.P.I.’s Khloe had a little Lam-Lam to sponge over it leaving me with a nice fresh looking gradient. I hope you like it!

Have you tried gradient nails yet? Or is this not your thing at all?

China Glaze Crackle Glitters swatches and thoughts.

Recently I posted about the new China Glaze Crackle Glitters in this post right here. And now I have a little exclusive for you all, I have been sent these to review and swatch so hang on, keep on readong and I’ll show you what these look like! And I’ve got to say, I wasn’t expecting this because I was a bit over crackle but oh man, these are so cool!

As you can see there are four lovely glittery crackles to this collection, they all came with the same little tag (as pictured on the polish on the left) that has the China Glaze logo on the front and on the back there are directions on how to apply these to the nail. (Click the image to read the directions)

Just to make sure I did everything right I read these little notes before swatching them as some crackles are to be applied when the base polish is still wet, the other type, like these, are to be applied when your base polish has dried completely.

I used a black polish called Liquid Leather, and a white polish called White on White, both by China Glaze, as a base of these swatches and made sure it was completely dry before I applied these crackles. Application went really smoothly, something I did not expect as glitter can be quite problematic to apply.

As you can see when you click on the picture on the left, this glitter is just so fine that you don’t have any trouble distributing them evenly and you have a moment to make sure all is covered before these start to crack.

And oh my, when it starts to crack it is very pretty! The glitters are shimmery and light enough to contrast beautifully with the basecolor and you get a nice clear crackle effect. It is important that you do topcoat this after it has finished cracking as it seems to dry quite matte.

Sadly I don’t think swatching these on my own nails would look very nice at the moment as I pretty much broke all of my nails on my left hand when I picked up my laptop and it slipped. Ouch. So you will have to do with my nailwheel instead I’m afraid. I hope you can forgive me.

Let me show you these on the black base first:

Jade-d is a soft green, so soft actually that it looks more gold than anything. But it is pretty, especially in certain color combinations which I will talk about soon as well.

Glam-more, the second polish pictured is a nice and bright fuchsia that really pops over a dark color and looks really nice over a light color as well.

The third color Gleam Me Up is a light blue, I think, after Glam-More my favorite polish of the set.

Last but certainly not least there is Luminous Lavender a soft purple, or indeed lavender color.

I personally prefer lighter colored crackles like these over a dark base, but to each their own of course. I will show you these colors over white next to show you the difference in effect.

See how the Glam-More pops and the other three are just kind of sitting there being pretty?  There’s nothing wrong with them over white, but with the black they just look better to me.

I was toying around with them a bit more in combination with other China Glaze colors and I came up with a few snazzy combinations.

First there’s Jade-d over Stella because the green looks even more gold over this luschious wine red it gives it a very interesting look don’t you think?

The next two combinations just scream summer to me, Glam More over For Audrey and Gleam Me Up over Orange Knockout, these colors just pop over brights like these and they’re sure to catch anybodies eye.

Last but not least Luminous Lavender over Urban Night, both a shade of purple, but still complimenting each other rather well. Very classy I think so myself.

Now you’ve seen my swatches and read all about the polishes do you think you’ll get yourself this set? I was not planning on buying these but now that I have them and was able to test these I have to admit I am quite impressed with them! So if you get the chance, do pick one up, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised as well! They will be out this may!

Pictured from left to right are:

I might just get the blues as they remind me of the ones Chanel and KOH and pretty much every other brand have released lately ;) but other than that those two the colors aren’t calling me. By the way, I do think that the design on the caps is a nice touch!

This collection will be out June 2012 and the lacquers will be € 2,49 each. Are you planning on getting anything from this collection?

The O.P.I. Vintage Minnie Mouse Summer 2012 collection

I’ve been aware of this new set by O.P.I. for a little while, but until now I just haven’t been very motivated to post it. Not because it’s not cute, it’s adorable really, but man I just do not do pink or red or huge glitter and this little set has all of this and nothing else.

What am I talking about you ask? The new O.P.I. Minnie Mouse Summer 2012 collection of course!

There are just four colors in this collection, two reds, two pinks. And they will be available June 1, 2012.

Here is another picture and a quick description of the colors:

Nothin’ Mousie ‘bout it. - This looks like a transparent pink jelly with glass fleck shimmer and little white or possibly light pink heartshaped glitter pieces.

I’m All Ears. - A magenta shimmer that looks more red than pink in the display picture so I am not sure what to think about this one yet.

If You Moust You Moust. - This one looks like a typical bubblegum pink.

The Color of Minnie. - The signature Minnie Mouse cherry red you know from her cute little polkadot dress.

What do you think of this collection? Are you underwhelmed like I am? Or are you in fact a big Disney or Minnie or even pink and reds fan and will you be getting these as soon as they hit the shops?

  • Edited to add the first bottle shot I’ve found of these online. (Source the O.P.I.’s official twitter page)
  • Edit number two: BeautyJunkies has swatches up!

Zoya Summer 2012 collection – Beach & Surf!

Just a quick picture as I don’t have much details just yet besides what is mentioned on the picture itself, but would you just look at these lovely colors! I am going to need Arizona and Reagan! Plus all the metallic foils for sure as they’ll look amazing knowing Zoya and I’m sure they’ll make GREAT stamping polishes to boot!

What do you think about these? Are any of these calling your name? Do they actually HAVE your name, let me know!

China Glaze – New Bohemian collection 2012

Yes! Finally China Glaze is hopping on board of the Duo/Multichrome train and boy do they do it well! Duo- and multichrome nailpolishes are a metallic looking polish that shift in the light as you move, one moment they look green, the next they are gold or even have a blue hue to them, trust me on this, you will not stop looking at your nails when you wear one of these. I have a few Models Own Beetlejuice polishes, and a couple of Ozotic multichromes and they are just amazing. So I have high hopes for this little set that China Glaze are going to be releasing in the, hopefully very near, future.

Because not only is there a lovely Chanel Peridot look-a-like, there are also 5 other colors to get excited about!

Pictured here from left to right you see:

  • Unpredictable
  • Rare And Radiant
  • Swanky Silk
  • No Plain Jane
  • Want My Bawdy
  • Deviantly Daring

Sadly I have not been able to find a release date or any swatches for these yet, but I hope they will come out soon and that they will be gorgeously opaque.

Are any of these polishes on your wishlist now you’ve seen them here?

China Glaze announces their Summer Neons.

Are you ready for summer yet? I know I am! I’m just ready for this dreary winter weather to pass already. It has been rainy here in the Netherlands and we’ve had just yucky weather in general. So finding out about this collection made me long for summer even more.
Would you just look at these gorgeous colors:
They are from top left to bottom right:
  • Love’s a Beach,
  • Hang-ten toes,
  • Beach Cruise-r,
  • Under the boardwalk,
  • Ride the waves,
  • Splish Splash,
  • I’m with the Lifeguard,
  • Sun-Kissed,
  • Orange you hot?,
  • Surfin’ for boys,
  • Flirty Tankini
  • Pink Plumeria
Twelve new sizzling shades for surf, sand & nightlife indeed!
Now I am of course waiting for swatches of this collection but by the first look of it I need at least half of these. Well okay a little more than half; probably only seven of them as I’m not feeling those pinks. But I never am so that’s no surprise. I am particularly curious about the purples as one of them seems to be a Flying Dragon dupe without the pesky shimmer that seems to turn it matte.
I’m also looking forward to seeing swatches as it’s now hard to tell if they are opaque or will take a few coats before you get full coverage. Most neons are usually opaque which means I’ll have to use a white basecoat first. But since they’ve released a collection like that before in 2008. (Their Ink collection had a few neons like Pink Voltage and Celtic sun that were not opaque.) So I hope that this collection will be a 1 coater!

Sadly I have not found a release date for these pretties yet, but I do hope they will be released very soon so they can chase this sad weather away.

What do you think? Are you looking forward to painting your nails with these colors?

Or are they possibly too bright for your taste?
