Butter London by Gwyneth Paltrow for Goop and the Sweetie Shop Lacquer Collection.

How about these three beauties? Gwyneth Paltrow designed them for Goop, her own online Lifestyle magazine. Each week, Goop premieres one exclusive limited edition collaboration. Whether it’s a wardrobe staple, a home accessory, or a beauty must, they believe these are the curated essentials for you, your wardrobe and your home.  Gwyneth started Goop in the fall of 2008 to share all of life’s positives. From creating a delicious recipe to finding a perfect dress for spring, she began curating the best of lifestyle to help her readers save time, simplify and feel inspired.  Enough about Goop and on to the pretty polishes! Let me introduce you to the ”Trifecta of bespoke lacquers”, from left to right in the top three rows of pictures: Hampstead Heath which offers a mossy, green and gold shine, great for a holiday occasion. Abso-bloody-lutley which is the ultimate deep cherry opaque red and Bread & Butter pudding which is a sheer ivory cream. The latter one doesn’t really make me want to run out and buy it but man, that green and even that deep cherry red are delicious! If it wasn’t for the price I’d buy them I think.  You can pick up the Goop and Butter London nail polish set for $36 at Goop.com.

Butter London also recently unveiled its Sweetie Shop Lacquer Collection, which will be available from January 2013. The new collection includes six shades influenced by the pastels of sweets such as cotton candy milkshakes and macaroons. Sounds wonderful doesn’t it? But will it look good in the bottle and on the nail? Well let’s have a look at these colors and find out!

The shades are from left to right:

  • Jasper – A nice mellow yellow.
  • Kerfuffle – A lovely shade of sherbet.
  • Fiver – An icy mint color.
  • Fruit Machine – A sweet bubblegum pink.
  • Molly Coddled – A wonderful bright violet.
  • Cuppa – A perfect tea with milk color, it doesn’t get more British than that.

The Sweetie Shop Lacquer Collection will be available from Boots, Harvey Nichols and butter LONDON’s website priced at £12 each. www.butterlondon.com

Which of these collections speaks to you? Or are they both not your thing?

Limited Edition “Siberian Call” by CATRICE

“Ice wide open! Beautiful scenery full of contrasts surrounds the Limited Edition “Siberian Call” by CATRICE: silent snowy landscapes, bluish icy vegetation and imposing, vast steppes in brown and green – the territory of wolves, bears and tigers. The impressions of this world have already conquered the international catwalks. The symbiosis of the ice age and naturally warm elements is reflected in the current crossover couture: glamorous fur effects, soft tweed, urban knits and sparkling highlights with an ice-flower appearance. Deep shades of grey and silver shades unite with warm beige, pink and coral to become the trend colors of this edition, which will be available from December 2012 to January 2013.

The ice crème de la crème: five new nail polishes in Nearly Black, Grey, Ice Silver, Mauve and Coral with various wow-effects. Whether glitter and gloss, a pearly shine or minimalistic and plain, your nails are sure to stand out with a cool yet always individual ice-princess look.”

Because the NEONnatural collection will be out in December/January here in the Netherlands as well I doubt we’ll see this collection here, sadly, because I do like the look of that first polish a lot!

What do you think of this little set?

Sneak Peeks – Essence 2013

I’ll just leave these tasty little morsels right here…

Sadly no release in the Netherlands but these will be out in Germany December 2013

No clue if this collection will be released in the Netherlands but it’s certainly cute and looks like it would work well for Valentines day.

These are planned for a January release just like the Vintage District collection:

Release planned for January 2013

And lastly, planned for the second half of January and first half of Febuary is the Snow Jam Collection, again not sure if this will come to the Netherlands yet, but I’ll keep you posted:

Yep, it’s small and it looks like the text is in Russian or Ukrainian but it’s the best I can do right now.

But look closely on the left of all these, there will be at least 3 to 4 new Limited Edition nail polishes with this set of collections and I have to say, I’m loving the blues and purples!

Hopefully when the press release comes for these I’ll be able to tell you more about these little collections and show you the colors a bit better.

What are your first thoughts?

NEONaturals by Catrice, combining brights with nudes for a cheery winter.

The new Limited Edition “NEONaturals” by Catrice invites you to use bright colors to cheer up the winter months!

This collection brings the trend colors of international designers to your nails: six neons and six nudes for endless combinations and looks.

You can use these individually or as a color duo for a beautiful halfmoon manicure which you can easily make with the new nailart brush that will include 30 tip guide stickers!

I’m loving these brights and I will probably buy On The Bright Side Of Life at least once but probably twice so I will have a back up for it once I run out. I also like the look of Little Miss Sunshine (which incidentally is also one of my favorite movies, next to Amelie and Fightclub) and may buy that one too. The nudes I will have to see in person to be able to judge if they’ll go with my pale yet pinkish skintone. I do like the look of several of them though.

NEONaturals by Catrice will be available halfway December 2012 until halfway January 2013 in the Netherlands and Belgium.

China Glaze releases the Cirque du Soleil Worlds Away collection.

I’ve known about this collection for a few months now but was asked to not speak about these just yet as China Glaze was keeping these under wraps for just a little longer…, and boy was it hard to keep these to myself because man, aren’t they interesting? To me the larger glitters look like something a lot of polish lovers have been buying from the Indie Polish makers and now China Glaze is bringing this amazing look to the general public as well, I love it!

There are 12 colors in this collection as you can see in the collage I made of them up here, and these are their names:

I’ll be curious to see what the swatches of this collection will be like and what everyone’s favorites will be.

What are your thoughts of this little set? Is this a must have or a must pass for you?

For those interested in buying these, Transdesign has the collection up already!

Chanel Bombay & Les Essentiels de Chanel 2012 Fall collections.

Oh my, Chanel is certainly not sitting still and has already announced their fall 2012 collection which is has the theme Bombay as Karl Lagerfeld took his inspiration from India this time. Expect sultry kohl heavy looks and golden details as the models rock the runway in this unique video filmed last December:

[tube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dskLeT5EQy8[/tube]

And of course with this collection a lovely polish is being released called Diwali named after a holiday which is popularly known as the “festival of lights“. It is a glowing golden nail polish created by Peter Philips, and right now it’s available exclusively at the Chanel boutiques. But hopefully it will have a wider release later this year to a Chanel counter near you.

Alongside this themed collection Chanel is also releasing LES ESSENTIELS DE CHANEL, created by Peter Philips who is Creative Director of Chanel Makeup. The collection was inspired by Coco Chanel’s iconic essentials — the little black dress, the quilted handbag and the two-toned shoe.

With this collection come three shades, a  lovely fuchsia called Suspicious, a beige nude color named Frenzy, and a brown called Vertigo which has a beautiful shimmer. I cannot wait to find these in the local shops as it looks like Vertigo is totally a color I would wear and I want to swatch it as soon as I possibly can.

What do you think of these two Chanel collections, do you like what you see?

Time to Christmas it up in here!

This is my current festive manicure, what do you ladies (and possible gentlemen) think of it?

It’s a layer of Sally Hansen’s Triple Strong as a base. Over that I have OPI’s An Affair in Red Square with a little layer of Beyu’s 209 over it for some extra depth. I’ve stamped an all over image with white Konad stamping polish on top of it for some holiday cheer. It’s an image from the BIG SdP K plate. One of the many Dashica Beauty Shop plates that I have. Over that I’ve dabbed some foil glue in the spots where I wanted my rhinestones to be and after putting those on I’ve used Seche Vite topcoat to seal it all. If you have not tried Seche Vite I seriously urge you to try it. It is the best topcoat I’ve tried. It dries gorgeously shiny and fast. And it keeps my manicure going for at least a week if applied correctly.

What do you think? I rarely wear red on my nails so it takes some getting used to for me and I might just switch when it’s Christmas, to something else and more sophisticated like Chanel Graphite. But for now it’s certainly helping me get in the holiday spirit!

Are you wearing any special holiday manicures this year?

Get Teeezed in the boudoir!

Dutch cosmetics brand TEEEZ has recently come out with a wonderful new collection called Boudoir Secrets. And I just have to tell you about it

because not only is this new collection is decorated with a gorgeous print that has gems and cameo jewelry ll over the packaging of the 4 different products. But it also a reminder of the abundance 18th century queen of France Marie Antoinette must have lived in, a rebellious diva who had a passion for the pleasures in life. I love that, the opulence of that time and the sultry style of this collection make a gorgeous combination that I just have to share with you all.

The Boudoir Secrets collection consists of a Bold Eyeliner Pencil, French Kiss Lip Gelée, Boudoir Mascara and of course Couture Nail Lacquer. Renewed formulas, seductive colors and unique packaging make this collection to a serious must have for a sensual and elegant look this holiday season.

Now I wouldn’t have a nail blog if I didn’t want to share the lovely set of 8 new polish colors with you. This set of nail lacquers has 4 rich colors and 4 lovely more muted pastels as you can see on the picture below:

The Couture Nail Lacquers one by one:

  • First in the set is Femme Fatale 09, which seems to be a re-release that first was a bit more red but has now morphed into a creamy pink color.
  • After that we have Smooth 08 which is not to be confused with the holo lacquer they have called Smooth 01! This seems to be a pink colored cream.
  • Outta control 07 is my favorite color of them all, and I’m sure you can guess why, yep it’s a lovely violet cream.
  • Icy 02 is a semi transparent lacquer with ultra fine pearl particles. It makes the surface of your nails very smooth, leaving a soft layer like Gel Nails, for an elegant finish.
  • Rebel 12 is a gorgeous coral that is sure to look beautiful on your nails during these cool winter days where you need a bit of warmth in your color palette.
  • Gutsy 05 can only be described as a rich salmon pink cream that is just a bit darker than a nude but certainly looks to be a nice neutral color to wear.
  • Cool 04 is a very soft light baby blue, a color that not everyone can rock but if you can I’m sure it will quickly become one of your favorites.
  • And last but not least Free 06, a nice khaki color that is right in between an army green and a grey.

All of these powerful pastels have been directly translated from the latest catwalk trends. And with this new collection Teeez is also introducing an unique formulation: the lacquers leave a thick but smooth layer on the nails, which almost like a Gel Nail effect. They apply thick but are said to be quick drying and will last up to 5 days without chipping! I will of course test this out as soon as I get my hands on one of these.

The polishes are Big 3 Free (free from hazardous ingredients dibutyl phthalate, toluene, formaldehyde) by they way and have a thick flat brush.

Another wonderful bit of info is that they are fragrance free: therefore suitable for people with a sensitive skin. And one last bit of info but to me one of the most important things is that they have not been tested on animals.

If you want to find out more about this particular brand just visit their website at http://www.teeez.eu, you can also use the site look up if there’s a store that sells Teeez near you!

Are you interested in this new collection or will you be skipping this one? If so, why?

Illamasqua: A Journey – part 1; The History.

Recently I was invited to a bloggers event in Amsterdam by the lovely Alex Cummins who is Junior Brand Manager for Illamasqua. I soon found out there were a lot of other great blogging ladies who were going to attend the presentation and I found myself anxiously looking forward to September 3rd.  This was the day it was all going to happen; the presentation of their third Autumn/Winter collection to date: Theatre of the Nameless.

First let me give you some details about this great brand before I tell you about the collection and of course the event. Illamasqua is a British brand that launched in 2008 in Selfridges in London.  It was founded byJulian Kynaston, who was just bored by the industry at that time as they were all just bringing out the same look – a nude lip and a smokey eye or a variation of it over and over again. He wanted to bring back the artistry in make up. He approached Alex Box - she was one of the make up artists that was really pushing the boundaries at the time.  She was experimenting with make up – using it as an artform and she came in and is still with the brand as their creative director.  She’s very hands on with all the products and she is the one that brings in the creative teams to work on everything. She works closely with them so she’s not just the face of the brand, a name they can drop to impress.  The brand went global after 6 months, launching at Sephora and they soon became the fastest growing make-up brand in the past 20 years, which is, of course, incredible. Their mission is to provide high-performance, professional make-up to anyone who wants to self-express and accentuate their look beyond the norm. Illamasqua is for the bolder person hiding inside all of us.  Their tagline after all is ‘Make Up for your Alter Ego’ and this shows in every product they’ve released so far.

The Theatre of the Nameless 2011 autumn/winter collection was heavily influenced by Anita Berber.  Anita was a young firey red haired dancer, actress, writer, and prostitute from the 1920′s Berlin.  A period in time when Berlin was rethinking art, politics and life itself.  One of its inhabitants; Anita; was pushing it further than anyone else. She was the original wild child. She lived life fast, partied hard and people either loved or hated her for it.  She could often be seen in hotel lobbies, nightclubs and casinos; she would walk around naked except for a sable fur, carrying a pet monkey and a silver brooch full of cocaine while flaunting her lesbian lovers—removing the barrier between performance and normal life. She died when she was only 29 from severe tuberculosis, a year after she had given up alcohol and cocaine, but she had already touched many lives on her way to that early grave. She was once the actress who had Leni Riefenstahl as her understudy and she had influenced Marlene Dietrich (one of her many lovers for a while) to wear a tuxedo, something women of that era wouldn’t dare to before. And now she has touched us all again through this beautiful, dark, sexy, new collection.

Stay tuned to Illamasqua: A Journey.  You have two more adventures to follow in this beautiful tale.

Nails Inc Autumn Winter collection 2011

Nails Inc is introducing their limited edition glossy shades inspired by the catwalk this fall. Warm tobacco shades were spotted everywhere and red was also a runaway stand out for the season. They loved the bold, bright red shades that they spied at Prada along with the romantic red and russet colors at Gucci so much that they introduced the colors in their new limited edition collection.

This collection includes the most amazing pure red and a deeper red brown shade covering all angles of the trend.

The 4 shades are named after famous London Stations.

Charing Cross – Brilliant pure red gloss

Paddington – Deep khaki grey

St Pancras – Deep chestnut

Fenchurch Street – Russet creme

What do you think of these? I’ve got to say I’m not a really red nail person but Charing Cross is quite pretty! I also like the Deep Chestnut color.

Chanel’s got the blues!

One of the hottest colors of fashion this fall is blue. Yves Saint Laurent already has shown us this with a few pretty blues in their nail polishes and so has Dior. Now Chanel is introducing Les Jeans de Chanel. There are three colors to this mini collection designed by the Creative Director of the Chanel Make-up division, Peter Philips. He designed these three Jeans inspired colors specifically for Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out, that is taking place the second Thursday of September to kick off this years New York Fashion week.

  • Blue Rebel - This is the darkest of the three, it’s a beautiful royal blue. And by the looks of it, my favorite out of the three. To me it looks a little bit like a slightly darker version of Rebel Debutante by Color Club. But only swatches will, of course, tell if this is really the case.
  • Coco Blue - This reminds me of a previous release by Chanel called Nouvelle Vague, though I believe that one had a hint of a teal tone to it. This one is more of a baby blue or a clear sky blue. In my eyes it’s a wonderful color for everyone who wishes to continue the summer trend of wearing pale nail colors deep into the winter.
  • Blue boy - Clearly a color that sits between the two. It’s not as dark and rich as blue rebel, but certainly not as light as coco blue. I personally think it’s the least exciting color of this trio.

The shades are to be released September 8th – the same day as the presentation at fashion week – and will be available at your local Chanel counter in the United States. There’s no information about these colors hitting the international counters but I am certain you will be able to at least try and score these at the Chanel website. In fact; you can already join the waitinglist for them right here.

These colors will only be available until the end of the month. That is a VERY limited time for a collection so if you want to one one or quite possibly all three of these run, don’t walk to your local Chanel dealer before they run out!
